An accident in the lab causes our heroes to shrink rapidly, however another hero from the Marvel universe shows up to lend a hand, or six.

In “World’s Tiniest Heroes” Reed Richards is once again trying to crack the secrets to the microverse that he discovered in “Doomed.” While in his lab Johnny brings in a dog that he volunteered to watch for a friend. Naturally the dog goes wild and begins wreaking havoc all throughout Reed’s lab. Moments later the F4 begin shrinking at a rapid rate, and realize that they have to make it back to Reed’s lab so that he can reverse the effects. The only problem is H.E.R.B.I.E’s rodent control program kicks in and tries to exterminate the team. When all seems lost a surprise guest in Ant-Man shows up to help Reed and the team get back to their original size.

This episode was yet another enjoyable one for me from a show that has really exceeded my expectations since it’s debut over a month ago. Once again the animation in this show is astounding, with the mixture of 2D and 3D appearing as seamless as you could hope from today’s animation. What impresses me the most about the mixture of the two is that the 3D is only used on certain objects that can benefit the most from 3D. Examples would be the Fantasticar (which has never looked better), robots, and the majority of Reed’s lab which would make any hardcore nerd jealous beyond belief.

Although the episode lacked any major antagonist this time, it was interesting to see the team face a different kind of challenge other than a creature from another dimension, or a power hungry guy in an iron suit (no not Iron Man). Actually, the biggest problem for the F4 in this episode was their own computer H.E.R.B.I.E who was only trying to do his job by exterminating any unwanted pests in the Baxter Building.

The appearance by Ant-Man was short and sweet. The design for Hank was very cool as it wasn’t just some spandex suit with a giant helmet. He sported more of a suit of armor than a leotard, and his helmet design was very insect like….pretty cool all around. One thing I found interesting was the look of Hank himself who looked like he belonged at a beach rather than a lab.

By the end of the episode it was revealed that Reed and Hank had made a wager to see who could shrink down to the smallest size. This has got to suck for Hank seeing as how he’s supposed to have the shrinking aspect cornered, but then again he is going up against the world’s smartest man in Reed Richards so what do you expect?

Comments

This show really is (no pun intended) fantastic. I think for once they’ve REALLY gotten a handle on the characters. Every single character in this show is nailed to a T, even H.E.R.B.I.E is likable in this show.
