Email Review print review“Bizarre New World" is a really cool, beautifully done book worth checking out!
When Skipper Martin sent me an e-mail and asked me to take a look at his book I was a little suspect. I get a lot of e-mails of people wanting me to review their comic and for the most part they are pretty bad. So just for giggles I followed the link to the “Bizarre New World" website and was very surprised. The artwork I saw knocked my socks! So I e-mailed Skipper back. (here is the e-mail I sent him) “I just took a look at your site. If the writing is as good as the pencils and coloring on this book then you are going to have a hit! The artwork is better than 95% of the crap Marvel and DC are pumping out." So he sends me a link to take a look at the first two issues and the writing IS as good as the artwork!
I should have known as soon as I saw the APE Entertainment logo on the comic that it was going to be good. APE has published some of the best comics (The Black Coat, Athena Voltaire) on the market in the past couple of years. “Bizarre New World" will continue the string of original, well written and superbly illustrated books that has become a hallmark of APE.
So what’s the book about you say? It’s about a guy who discovers he can fly! Isn’t that the dream of every fanboy and fangirl out there? The great thing about this story is that Martin approaches flying from the wonderful, scary, addicting feeling that it would be. The main character is very human with an extraordinary talent. Christopher Provencher pencils and Wes Dzioba colors are what really caught my eye in the first place. The colors are warm and realistic and add depth and character to some beautiful pencils. Christopher Provencher has a great style that makes me BELIEVE the story. I don’t know how to explain that, it’s just what I feel. Check it out for yourselves, I promise you won’t be disappointed.

They have a conversation in the book about how humans could actually fly and I swear I had the same conversation at Comic Con last years
Seems like a cool idea and comic, might need to check it out.
