Nintendo has officially renamed their next-gen console formerly known as “Revolution” to “Wii"(as in “we").
After a brief Flash introduction, the site explains Nintendo’s move. "While the code-name ‘Revolution’ expressed our direction, Wii represents the answer. Wii will break down that wall that separates game players from everybody else. Wii will put people more in touch with their games...and each other."
The site goes on to say that Wii should be easy to remember for people around the world, no matter their language, and that it will avoid abbreviation. The “ii” spelling is intended to represent “both the unique controllers and the image of people gathering to play.” It may also be worth noting that “ii” means “good” in Japanese.
Nintendo sums up the name change with the following comments. "So that’s Wii. But now Nintendo needs you. Because, it’s really not about you or me. It’s about Wii. And together, Wii will change everything.”

I don’t even know what to think anymore. Between the old school controller, and the name change I’d say Nintendo’s been around those Mario-mushrooms for too long.
Ha-haaa. Good one. I’m disappointed that they didn’t use the Wynntendo name I suggested. I think Nintendo has given up on gamers over 10. They should pull a Sega, exit the console market and license all their characters to Microsoft.
I don’t know whether to laugh at you or feel sorry for you after that “Wynntendo” remark....honestly right now I think I will just hang my head low out of shame.
"ii” means good in Japanese. We learn something new every day. As a gamer it means nothing to me. I only care about how the graphics and game play will look. If you’re a true gamer it’s about the game play. The Graphics are a bonus. “They should pull a Sega and exit the console market"...dido..."and license all their characters to Mirosoft” double dido! Nintendo says,” But now Nintendo needs you. Because it’s not about you or me, it’s about wii. And together wii will change everything”. Man, i’ve said some corny stuff, but that sounds like a guy who’s out of touch with the video game market. When they start talking about symbols and not the type of games we can expect from them then this is what happens, quote>"Nintendo’s been around those Mario-Mushrooms for too long”.
wait wait wait im just making sure i understand this so its no longer revolution it is now “Wii”? well thats still cool
