UFC 66 Sells 1 Million+ PPV

The UFC had been touting for a long time before the event that UFC 66 would break the 1.2 million mark for PPV slots. Imagine their disappointment when ONLY 1 million were sold. The gate sales were the largest for an MMA event in North America at 14,607 for a total of $5.4 million. If you do the math on PPV sales, thats about 40 million in TV sales. That's a lot of Jack any way you cut it.
Those are some high dollar numbers and the trend is upwards. Is there a similar sport or competition for these dollars?
Sure, BODOG Fights, EliteXC, PRIDE, all want a piece of that same market share.
