Spider-Man 3: Back in Black?

Email Article Print ArticleNo this isn’t Spider-Man meets “Sin City”, and no this isn’t a black and white photo.Superherohype! has posted the first pic of Spider-Man decked out in the BLACK COSTUME from “Spider-Man 3”. No official word has been given on how the suit will play into the plot of the film, or whether or not this confirms the appearance of Venom, but as all fans know black costume = Venom.

Now personally I am excited about the news of the black costume being introduced into Spider-Man 3, but in all seriousness, the execution kinda sucks. I am a BIG fan of the Spider-Man movies, and an even bigger fan of Sam Raimi as a director, but I sort of feel cheated on the way they’re introducing the black costume into the films. Don’t get me wrong, I have no doubts that the storyline will be amazing, but all they did was basically take his existing costume and paint it black. I’m sure I’m not alone when I say that I would’ve hoped for something a little more original and closer to the actual design (large white spider on the chest). When I look at this suit I can’t help but remembering the “spider sense” effects they put into the 90’s animated series when his costume would reverse colors as soon as his spider sense was triggered.
I guess we can all pretty much assume that Topher Grace will be playing Eddie Brock, and by the end of the film they will at least hint at a full on Venom appearance for a 4th film.
I LOVE this suit! It’s not Venom from the books, but neither is the story I’m assuming. I can’t wait to see the story behind it.
eh, I was hoping for something a little bit more original than just coloring the movie suit black. It’s almost like the symbiote (suit) infected his current costume and made it “bad”. Maybe I’m just being picky but for the amount of money those movies have made I sort of expected a little creativity.
Nevertheless, I have faith in Raimi and I know this movie will kick at least 3 different kinds of ass.
I am with Joe on the originality of the costume. I mean don’t just color the thing black do something cool. I would have liked to see something closer to the comic book.
