"Superman Returns" rakes in $21m in one day

Superherohype! reports that the newly released Superman Returns has brought in an impressive $21m since it’s official theatrical release on Weds. The figure, which includes early Tuesday night screenings, marks the 8th biggest opening for a Wednesday, just behind last year’s War of the Worlds, which collected $21.3 million before moving on to earn $121.2 million its first seven days.
Singer’s film debuted in 3,915 theaters and will expand to 4,064 theaters on Friday, the fourth-widest release ever.
Spider-Man 2 holds the record for a Wednesday opener. The sequel made $40.4 million on June 30, 2004.

It does me good to see The Man of Steel kick ass at the box office. I really hope he continues to set records, and break them as the 4th of July weekend approaches. I’ll probably put in a few more trips to the movies to see this again during the vacation.
