A lot of Star Wars collecting news has passed me by since my office has exiled me from the Internet (darn marxist company).  Wave 4 of “Battle for Hoth” from the unleashed series, new Topps card series, some new “Galactic Heroes” kids figures, and some interesting wallpaper are all featured in this update.

Wave 4 from the “Battle of Hoth” unleashed battle pack series has been announced for late this summer. Imperial Invasion (feat. Darth Vader and imperial droid), Wampa Assault (feat. Luke and Wampa), and Snow Troopers (feat. themselves) all get into the act. I like this wave much better than wave 3. The pictures of the figures seem to have more personality.

There are some new “Galactic Heroes” in town. My boy has a tons of these little figurines and he absolutely loves them. Greedo, Wedge, Tie Pilot, Ben Kenobi, and Sand Trooper are some of the characters featured in the 2006 wave 3.

Topps is scheduled to release a new set of Star Wars collector’s cards in july. “Star Wars Evolution: Update Edition” includes many Episode II and III characters to round out the collection. The All-Foil Character Series also features the main original trilogy characters in looks not featured in the first set. The main set consists of 90 cards, featuring mostly characters. There will also be a small subset of creatures as well as ships and vehicles that have a distinctive personality themselves such as the Millennium Falcon, Slave I and the Death Star.

There will be ultra-rare cards interspersed in some of the packs that include: 1/1 signature series of George Lucas and Sir Alec Guiness (meaning only one of these in the entire run), limited numbered sets of Luke and Leia, and authentic autographs of Hayden Christensen and James Earl Jones.

The last and most interesting piece of news comes from id-wall in Europe. Seems they have found a way to digitize and enlarge pictures proportionally by up to 1600% and then cut them into wallpaper size chunks for mounting on your wall. The examples they give on their website are obviously computer generated but this product was featured on StarWars.com. They are offering canvas pieces also. Too bad they aren’t available for those of us in the United States :-(

Photo Wall is awesome!  Darth Molen should use his jedi mind tricks on them to give us U.S. Distribution Rights.
