Rumor: UFC buys Pride for $65 million

The rumors are flying on the Internet thanks to "The Savage Dog Show". According to an "anonymous" source, the UFC has purchased PRIDE FC for $65 million.

Damon Martin and Jeff Cain of MMA Weekly have also confirmed on their radio show that the Fertitta brothers have purchased PRIDE, which includes the fighter contracts, video library, and the name of the organization.

Granted this is only rumor and has not been confirmed by either PRIDE or UFC but we at least want to keep our readers informed of the giant pink elephants that are wandering the Internet "echo chamber". It's a big enough elephant that even The Houston Chronicle couldn't resist covering it.

Lets humor the conjecture and say that this rumor has a seed of truth to it. $65 million dollars is way low for a top flight organization like PRIDE FC. Either the number is skewed or DSE (Dream Stage Entertainment), who owns PRIDE, is in bigger trouble than all of us thought. A secondary rumor is that DSE is about $8 million dollars in debt since coming to America which could be aiding in the possibility of a fire sale....
