Another PS3 Surprise

So, you want to see HD graphics on your PS3 huh? Well…

First it was the price, then it was the claims that Blu-Ray can do what DVD cannot do. Let’s add one more thing to Sony’s list for screwing over their loyal consumers. Face it, by now you’d have to be EXTREMELY loyal to pick up this system.

To get the best out of the system, you need to pick up the $600 dollar version rather than the $500 version. Sony hasn’t been cramming the $600 dollar version down our throats, but it’s obvious. Advertising 1080p through HDMI cables with the upgraded version to get the best playback for games and movies as far as visual quality go. Well, be prepared to spend even MORE money on cables. The PS3 will NOT ship with HD cables. That’s right, not even the $600 HDMI version, none, zero. If anybody has been paying attention, at big chain retail stores you can get the cheapest HDMI cables for around $60. So do the math, to bring home the system with 2 games and have the best quality visuals possible… be prepared to spend about $800 bucks. But remember, that’s assuming that games are $60, which we still haven’t heard anything about.

Well Sony fans, what else to say but… Xbox 360 came with HD Cables!!!

Yeah. Did you know I can buy a decent gaming machine for $800? Spend $200 more and I can get a gaming machine that will last me another two years....

I got the top of the line 360 and I don’t think it had an HDMI cable, but I could be wrong.

No HDMI, it had the Component Cables for HD. The 360 doesn’t offer HDMI, which I admit isn’t the best choice for the system.

Sony’s president has said in press conferences that the games will be between $60-100.  The PS3’s main publicist said the games will be above $50 but definitely below $100.  That is pretty expensive even since games prices haven’t changed in a long time.  The 360 and especially the Wii are looking like very attractive options right now.  I definitely like the Wii and Nintendo’s philosophy the most right now.
