Where can I start with this? I literally could’ve spent an entire day of Comic-Con at the Activision booth. By the looks of the constant crowd around the booth I’m not the only one that can say that. There was a lot going on at the Activision booth, they were holding casting calls for the voice of Namor and Jean Grey for the Ultimate Alliance game. So the lucky people at this years Comic-Con had the chance to lend their voices to the game.
Officially announced were 3 new playable characters that were added to the roster. Iceman (X-Men), Invisible Girl and The Human Torch (Fantastic 4). The question that I and many other fans were wondering, is there going to be a playable Iron Man? With 22 playable characters confirmed and only about half that amount announced, it sounds promising. That number pales in comparison however to the over 140 Marvel characters in the game when you include enemies and NPC’s. This has got to be the biggest collaboration of Marvel characters in any game to date. There was a phenomenal trailer that was running on T.V. the screens for Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, check it out at gamershell.com. It may be pre-rendered, but it’ll still make you more excited for this game. There was also a special video showing a Nightcrawler fight scene, also pre-rendered, but VERY cool.
The gameplay is obviously influenced by X-Men Legends with the same angle down view on your four person hero team. But in Ultimate Alliance, you can create a custom team and even name the team whatever you want. They upgrade as a team and can develop special team moves as well. And as a few surprise powerups as well. For example, if you dress up all the characters in your team in all the same types of costumes( i.e. ultimate costumes, or classic costumes) they will get a power up of some sort. An Activision rep walked the audience through a couple of different levels. Each of them (including an underwater level) looked very well detailed. Lighting and shadowing in corners of the room were done with the smallest detail in mind, and the effect that The Human Torch’s fire had on the lighting of the room was realistic looking.
For all you Marvel fans out there (and who isn’t one), this looks like it’s shaping up to be game of the year.

When he says he could’ve stood there all day he’s not kidding. I literally had to pull him away from the booth several times and say things like “you’ve seen this trailer 30x now, let’s go.”
The UA trailer was cool, and the gameplay footage was awesome as well. This is definitely going to be THE Marvel game to end all Marvel games.
I can’t disagree with what average joe is saying, I can just laugh.
You can’t argue because it’s true. The last presentation we went to I had to literally pull you away because you would’ve stood there all day watching that damn trailer.
On a side note, how hot was that Activision chick they had? what was her name, Angelie or something like that? I didn’t even know they had a trailer until the 50th time we went there because I was staring at her.
