The trailer for Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer is now on line.

To follow up Average Joe’s post a week ago, you can now see the FF2 trailer over at Apple.
I was a bit worried by the last film, but I have to admit this one looks like it could be intresting.

Like, Hellboy, I was actually impressed with the movie. Of course I went expecting a steaming pile of…

To refresh me since I am not a comic guru, the silver surfer comes prophecising the doom of the Earth by being followed by a big naughty guy that I can’t remember and then goes good?

Well, you came to the right place for answers, what kind of sidekick would I be if I didn’t know the history of almost all superhero characters. Ya never know when one will need a new bullet catcher.

Silver Surfer:
Was originally Norrin Radd from the planet Zenn-La. There he worked as an astronomer and was deeply in love with Shalla-Bal.  He made a deal with the planet eating entity known as Galactus to spare his home world, and in return he would become Galactus’ herald.  Galactus agreed and with the power cosmic he transformed Norrin Radd into the Silver Surfer.  It was not until S.S. reached earth that through contact with Alicia Masters, the Thing’s on and off again blind girlfriend, that he learned compassion for other life.  After which he teamed with the F.F. to persuade Galactus not to eat Earth.  On a side note if you have not seen the Galactus in Marvel Alliance, it looks good and could actually play on the big screen.  With Reed and the Ultimate Nullifier Galactus leaves Earth for the 1st time.
He is vastly powerful and resistant to most harm. He can travel at the speed of light, and use the Power Cosmic to become super strong. He can shift his molecules to pass through solid objects, and can channel high intensity bolts of cosmic energy through his hands.

I am sure I am leaving some things out about the Silver Surfer, but I will let others fill in the gaps.

Great job, SK, on the summation of the Surfer.

The only thing I would add is he tried to find worlds for Galactus to eat that didn’t have living beings whereas before it didn’t matter to Galactus if others died as long as he got his planets to eat.

The movies tell some of the rest of the stories. I will just say further, the Surfer learns, sometimes you win and sometimes you lose even if you want and try to do the right thing.

Of course I think the Silver Surfer is an amazing character.
