The big winner last night was director Martin Scorsese’s The Departed, which took home 4 Oscars for best picture, best director, best adapted screenplay, and best editing.
Perhaps the best part of last night’s ceremony was seeing director Martin Scorsese finally take home the gold in the “Best Director” category. This is Scorsese’s first Oscar in the category after being previously nominated 5 times before.

About damn time Scorsese won the award for best director. If you haven’t seen “The Departed” do yourself a favor and check it out. It has some of the best writing I’ve seen in awhile, and NO ONE can make a mob movie like Scorsese can.
