According to The Hollywood Reporter Oscar winner Alan Arkin has signed on to join the cast of Get Smart from Warner Bros. Pictures.
Arkin will reunite with his Little Miss Sunshine co-star Steve Carell in the film, directed by Peter Segal (50 First Dates, The Longest Yard). Arkin will take over the role of the chief of CONTROL originally made famous by Edward Platt in the 1965 TV series.
Also signed on to star are Anne Hathaway who plays Agent 99, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and Terrance Stamp, both in unknown roles.

Judging by the cast this is shaping up to be one of the best TV to movie adaptions ever done. Carell is PERFECT for the role, and the news of him reuniting with Arkin only helps to make this one of my most anticipated films.
I agree! This cast sounds like the right fit and mix to pull off the level of camp and humor of the original show. I hope the movie script does the TV show justice because it will be a funny movie.
