In January 2003, Activision announced that they have extended their agreement with Marvel Entertainment to make games based on four classic franchises: X-Men, Spider-man, Fantastic 4 and Iron Man. The agreement was supposedly good until 2009.
An Activision rep stated “We did have the rights to make an Iron Man game, but no longer retain said rights.” It was not said why Activision let their agreement lapse nor which development company was going to take over the rights to those franchises. Marvel Entertainment will announce this fall, who is the new publisher for their upcoming Iron Man game.

Wait, so does this mean that Activision won’t be making anymore Marvel games period, or just the upcoming Iron Man game?
So far just the Iron Man game and those other classic franchises.
