"The Art of War" was held on March 9th in Dallas, Texas and considered a rousing success for a first time promotion. The attendance was announced at 6722 and the event was held at the America's Airline Center, the same building the Mav's play in. Those are the official statistics but I want to give my impressions of how the event really went down.

PRIDE 33 came and went with a bang. Each fight organization that fights in Las Vegas has to publish salaries and PRIDE was no different. The item of interest to note is the base salary of the PRIDE fighter participant. It was 10k at PRIDE 33. The base salary at UFC 67 was 3k.

The WEC is an up-and-coming organization under the Zuffa umbrella (which also owns the UFC). It doesn’t have a heavyweight division and it’s event atmosphere caters to a younger crowd. Live DJ’s, small to medium venues, and younger / spryer fighters really livens up the actions.
