Bamf became bored trying to write a 27 Dresses review, since more pressing matters were on his mind.  So he pushed two reviews together, and gave the better more space then the lesser.

In 2007, Bamf has had enough of these 107 lbs starlets and he’s calling them out.  Question: Why is it a big deal when Tom Hanks or Christian Bale drop a ton of weight for a role?  Answer: because it is unhealthy.

I just picked up my fitted velour sweat suit from the cleaners, had the patent leather chair treated for age, and a bottle of Merlot is resting in its decanter. For this conversation your fez hat is only optional but Chopin is mandatory. It’s time to talk about Aliens vs. Predator.

Running Commentary: Living in THE SHADOW OF THE MOON

David Singleton created a brilliant documentary on the American race to reach the moon in the 1960’s.  When it comes to space, I have allot to say.  Go on a journey with me where we start at a fire in Northern California, and end where a dreamer wished to take us all.

In this I lay out how basic story telling conventions were ignored, and how I see a writer and a director’s failure at bringing my favorite book in the canon to life.  Spoilers ahoy!

*Komikazee Exclusive* Bamf looks Behind The Mask...and likes what he sees!!

On one Friday night in Hollywood I attended the midnight screening of Behind The Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon.  The cast was in attendance, the theater was full with film fans, and a horror legend graced all with his presence.  The film is complete with plot twists and bloody action.  Read on as I tell the story of my night, review the film, and ask what is scarier; the seen or the unseen?

How not to get laid in Los Angeles:Wizard World LA

Part two of an ongoing series.  A recounting of my wild day at Wizard World LA.  Well, not that wild, I mostly stood around and told guys in wife beaters with Green Lantern rings that it was their turn to get something signed.  But from that vantage point you can see alot, and I took it all in.  Read about my first con experience as a Wizard World volunteer, and just how I ended up meeting the Hulk, a Officer, and a CW star.

*flashback review* Casino Royale: A return to form

by: bamf 9

Email Article  Print Article

Casino Royale was touted as the relaunch to bring Bond back to his former glory.  It has a grittier approach with a new face for Bond and a redefinition of the series.  My short review of the film, it was crap, and it truly was a return to form.  The same form that has been established with the preceding installments of the franchises films that lead to short box offices and hack attempts at continuing a legend.  Before you buy the dvd on tuesday, consider this review when the inevitable double dip is right around the corner.

*flashback review* Borat gives Americas colonoscopy

by: bamf 1

Using absurdity to prove a point, Sacha Baron Cohen is a maestro at improvisational acting.  After screening Borat (engage long title) Will Ferrel said he was near tears because he knew he could never be as funny as Cohen.  Before Snakes on a Plane started, the Borat trailer ran and the theater audience went wild when he introduced himself and begged for their dollar.  You could not even call it a cult film, as it lived up to its promises in spades at the box office.  Read on in my flashback review, as originally written after first viewing.

Everything's Gone Green: A Komikazee exclusive review

by: bamf 0

Everything’s Gone Green is author Douglas Copelands (Generation X) freshmen outing into the film industry. I traveled to Hollywood to screen a film that had only been seen at the Toronto Film Festival thus far.  Its a bit off the geek path, but I strongly feel its a total guys movie. I call it a romantic comedy without the romance. Read about this refreshing film partnered with a little side story in my review of Everythings’s Gone Green.

Marvel then and now

How not to get laid in Los Angeles. Part 1?  Kevin Smith said it best.  If you are a lady in the market for a man you could have your pick of the litter at the Marvel then and now presentation held at UCLA in December of 06.  I held witness to Kevin Smith, Joe Quesada and the slightly confused man himself Stan Lee waxing on about Marvels history and the future to come.  Read my report of the evening that had comics biggest names all under one roof.
