Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest - Do the pirates sink or swim?

movie image 3.5 stars
It's such a rare instance now-a-days that a sequel comes along and actually surpasses it's predecessor in terms of quality, and overall enjoyment. Does Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest manage to achieve that goal? well, I guess you'll have to read on to find out.... full review »

Justice League Season One....What have you done to Superman!?

dvd image 4 stars
Long before the Watchtower was overpopulated with 900 (exaggerated) characters running around it, and long before they added the name "unlimited" (which pretty much describes the number of characters they've added to the new episodes, Wonder Woman, Batman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Hawkgirl, Martian Manhunter and Superman were known as "The Justice League". full review »

Batman Beyond Season One....short and sweet

dvd image 4.5 stars
Usually I am not a big fan of taking classic characters in a new direction. I hated it when they turned Superman into that absurd electric deal, I didn't like when they started adding new members to the Fantastic Four, and I think the current "updated" look for Spider-Man is completely ridiculous. Basically I've always had the mentality "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". These characters have been around for so long because their creators discovered a formula for success and stuck with it. full review »

Teen Titans: The Complete First Season....looking good so far

dvd image 4.5 stars
On of WB/DC's latest ventures into the world of animation "Teen Titans" brings us a new kind of superhero team, namely full of characters that aren't even old enough to vote. Following the adventures of Starfire, Beast Boy, Cyborg, Raven, and the team's leader Robin, "Teen Titans" offers a fresh new take on what was becoming a regular pattern for DC animated shows. full review »

game image 4 stars
Was it worth the wait and really was it worth the hassle? I think it really depends what kind of gamer you are. If you are a hardcore x-box gamer I would say yes, go get back inline, if you are just a casual gamer of sorts, I would still say you would find benefit in finding one. full review »

MMA "Art of War" 1

Sun Promotion sure knows how to throw a party. Dallas, Texas was the location and Pedro Rizzo was the executioner with 6722 people to view the spectacle. The fights were really good and the eye candy was in abundance. They had a different ring girl for each round and there was plenty of sweat and blood to appease the crowds. The behind-the-scenes was a little disorganized but the fights were in good order.

Athena Voltaire: The Collected Webcomics

comic image 4.5 stars
From the first time I picked up an "Athena Voltaire" comic I was in love! Ape Entertainment has a real winner on their hands and I hope they push this title to greater heights. In stores this month is the Collected Webcomics of Athena Voltaire. Originally published in 2002 on the web "The Terror in Tibet" and "The Wrath from the Tomb" are now collected in a trade paperback. Steve Bryant has the perfect art style for this compelling character and Chad Fidler makes everything pop with great colors. The story has Yeti, Werewolves and Vampires oh my! If you like Indiana Jones with more action, more occult mystery and more evil Nazis than you can shake a stick at then this is the book for you. The only thing I didn't like about this book was the strange way the layout. The book was printed every page like a centerfold, maybe this is High Definition Widescreen comics. Maybe the taking it from it's original web format dictated this printing style. full review »

What If? Wolverine: Enemy Of The State

comic image 0 stars

This may be the very worst "What If" comic I have ever read! Wolverine kills every superhero just because he can teleport and is in a state of constant rage. I mean come on! Wolverine kills Magneto by teleporting out of Magneto's magnetic hold and stabbing him from behind. If it was that easy you would think Wolverine and Nightcrawler would have perfected this move years ago. So Hydra has brainwashed Wolvie and is using him to kill all the Marvel Supes. Not only did they brainwash him they can teleport him to anywhere at any time as long as they have seen the place. I shouldn't even be writing this review right now because I am still hacked off at how stupid the story was. So the setup is that Captain America, Magneto, Invisible Woman and Kitty Pryde are going to lure Wolvie into a titanium reinforced, concrete reinforced S.H.I.E.L.D. base.

Because the base only has one entrance (so they think) they are going to herd Wolvie in and capture him so they can deprogram him. So as they are waiting for the most dangerous mutant on the planet, he comes up through the (Super Hardened, Titanium, Concrete reinforced) floor stabbing Invisible Woman in the feet. So at the time they are facing the worst killer ever and he has already cut off Cap's arm and leg in a previous battle, Invisible Woman doesn't even have her force field up. What?!?!?! Then she puts the force field on his head to squeeze out the oxygen and Wolvie gives himself a Tracheotomy. Couldn't she have just extended the bubble? So then Wolvie kills her, kills Magneto who could turn him into a pretzel with a thought and then kills double amputee Captain America. Kitty Pryde is the only one left and she tries to reason with Wolvie. Not a good idea. She finally figures out she has to do what has to be done and she phases her arm into his brain and face them becomes solid and Wolverine cuts her arm off, killing her. So now Wolverine is dead because he has an arm through his head. Nick Fury is there lamenting everyone and picking up the pieces. So how do you supposed an arm through the head kills Wolvie and that he can't heal from that when he has had so many more catastrophic injuries in the past? This whole story was a joke! Take some time to write a good story.

Sprockett #0

comic image 3 stars
I am on a big Independent kick right now and I just finished a book called Sprockett. I was very impressed with the urban style art of Kirk Chavarria. Kirk is a one man dynamo handling the writing, pencils and inking, not to mention publishing the book. Sprockett takes place four light years from Earth in the A.P.E.X. Galaxy and it seems they have punk muggers on that world too. This issue was a great teaser and I expect big things from this book. Visit Zebragreen.com to pick up a copy. full review »
