I still don’t know what I think about Marvel decimating the mutant population. I hated all crazy amount of mutants and every writer creating their own mutant. I just hope Marvel rights the ship soon. I am started to get a little tired of the whole internment camp thing. What do you guys think.
No More Mutants
I think the BEST era of mutants were the Uncanny X-men and the regular X-men.
Cyclops, Beast, Storm, Iceman, Wolverine, Jean Grey, Morph, Gambit, Rogue, Nightcrawler, etc.
Is there any distributor that can get a hold of the DVD for the X-Men cartoon series?
Love,
Matt

Don’t forget Colosus!
I’ve been *trying* to keep up with the X-Books, but like Rom and I were discussing yesterday, one company-wide crossover after another is taking it’s toll on my comic reading enjoyment. I can barely keep up with it anymore. Maybe I’m just old!?
Anyway, the “No more mutants” plot device was an interesting concept, and a few spinoff plot threads were interesting (Blob’s copious amounts of extra skin), but for the most part, I think it’s wearing thin too.
We will only know after we see how it all plays out. That is the reality of comics. That is also part of the fun, and sometimes part of the agony.

Believe it or not, this is even more taxing on the retailers. The upcoming ‘52’ series from DC is a good example. It’s going to be the missing links from the Infinite Crisis series and all the happenings of the ‘One Year Later’ titles which have now started to ship.
Infinite Crisis has been great all the way around. For the fans and for the retailers. It is one of the top selling books every month and its tie-ins hold there own as well. While about half of the tie-ins are pretty shaky, they’ve hit 100 times more than they’ve missed.
The conundrum(sp?) is that when this major of a title/event then transforms into a mega-massive crossover type event, yes it will sell very well, yes it will most likely be done extremely well with good intrigue and character revelations, but at what expense to the rest of the market? Even if you consider that it’s DC’s dubious task to grab ahold of as much market share as possible, I think they are taking a bit of their own sales away. Titles like 100 Bullets, Ex Machina, DMZ and Desolation Jones all lose some of their ‘shining potential’ because most customers are simply budgeted-out of trying more titles. This is where it gets scary for the retailer. They are strong titles with near 100% positive feedback from customers.
The market be this crowded makes it really difficult to get most readers to try them. At least for now. Most will wait for the TPB and just read it then. That by itself is cool with me, it means that I can be more conservative on ordering the monthly and take a stronger position on the tradepaperbacks, which have a much longer sellable shelf life anyways. But then again, using ‘52’ as the example, they’ve stated that it will not be collected until the entire series is finished. So we’ll be ordering pretty heavy on this series, but reluctently.

I am not looking forward to all the books I am going to have to buy just to keep up. What a beating!
dude i think that the whole “no more mutants” idea was just briliant i mean i was sick of mutants left and right with there happy powers and big mansion but since scarlet witch ridded the world of mutants im finding myself enjoying the X-books alot more it opens new doors and gets rid of a lot of crummy characters i mean lets face it know i wasnt the only one tired of seeing characters like........... so i cant think of any note worthy examples but come on i hope im not the only one who enjoyed x-men when there were only like 8 or 10 MAIN characters and that was that untill recently there have been thousands of little not MAIN characters so im down with the whole “no more mutants” idea
