Dallas Mavericks

Spurs edge Mavs 97-91

The season begins again but will we be talking about another collapse next summer?

New rules for owners, new ball, (that no player seems to like) new players. I love opening week of B-Ball because the tears of elimination are so far away. ;-)

One writer says the Mavericks owner is “fingernails on the chalkboard irritating” in the middle of one of his rants. The NBA issued new rules for owners regarding their behavior this year. The new rules have become known, unofficially, as the Cuban rules. This season could go a long way toward determining if the owner helps or hurts his team more with all his side line and on courts behavior.

Anyone have an opinion? Help or No Help?

Mav’s open this season with 3 losses in a row. Ended last season with 4 losses in a row.

Mav’s get beat by old coach, Don Nelson, with his new team, while new coach Avery Johnson gets tossed with two technical fouls.

Is it too early to get on the Spurs or Rocket bandwagons? Don’t want any broken legs when everyone starts jumping off at the same time. ;-)

Real men watch MMA!

I MAY NOT KNOW A THING ABOUT WHAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT.  BUT BY GOD I HAVE AN OPINION ABOUT IT!!! :banghead:

Hmm. Here’s what I say about the Mav’s losing.... :violin:

And lastly

GO ROCKETS!!!!

Customer Service is best served with a lightsaber.:lightsaber:

The good thing about being a pro basketball fan in Texas is, we have three teams to choose and mostly they don’t all lose on the same night.

Not so fast Mav’s! You lose your fourth in a row and for a team that was in the Finals last year, you look kind of like losers this year.

Maybe there is something to that new ball not being very good. Hmm.. wait, did your opponent have to play with the same ball?

Never mind!

Ain’t it cool when you get the first win of the season? A 1 and 4 record is better than a O-for. Mav’s win streak up to one in a row.

Rockets and Spurs are hot, Mav’s are not… yet.

Hmm the last time I watched basketball was with my dad back when Hakeem Olajuwon lead the Rockets to there 2nd Championship.  So I’m sorta out of the loop.

I MAY NOT KNOW A THING ABOUT WHAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT.  BUT BY GOD I HAVE AN OPINION ABOUT IT!!! :banghead:

Yes, the good old days of the “Dream Shake”. I recall David Robinson and the Spurs playing the Rockets. Robinson had just been named MVP but “The Dream” abused him badly in the playoffs and the Rockets went on to win the Championship. Every time the Rockets won, the fans were chanting,” MVP, MVP.” and making fun of Robinson.

Still, I got a lot of respect for Robinson. He was/is a classy guy who served his country in the military, brought the Spurs a world championship and played for the USA in 3 olympics.

Mav’s win again. Streak is up to 2 games in a row.

This Bull-etin just in… If you are going to defend only one guy on the pick and roll play, it had better be Dirk Nowitzki. The win streak is up to 3 after the Mav’s play bad host to Chicago and send them out the door with a loss.

By the way, leaving those shooting guards open on the pick and roll, isn’t a good idea either. ;-)

Sadly, our other two Texas teams played each other and the Rockets took the loss from the Spurs. The Spurs are good but the Rockets had a 19 point lead in the third quarter and blew it. Bad news for them but good for the Spurs.

The Mav’s have a day off so this is what they do. A cynic may say this is all just for show to make the rich players look good. I say some times, it is just what it seems to be, and I like it.

“The Mavs hosted Captain Hope’s Kids, a nonprofit organization that helps meet the needs of homeless children from 13 shelters around the Metroplex in the event, which included a basketball clinic with dribbling, rebounding, scoring and defensive drills and a Thanksgiving dinner provided by Boston Market.”

Some of these players served the food and even sat down and ate with the kids later. Nice job guys!

The Mav’s could improve by sweeping a back-to-back against Memphis starting tonight and ending Saturday in Dallas. The Grizzlies have only one win so far this season and are without Pau Gasol, their all star forward. Look for Dirk to have big games.

Also, The Rockets gave the fans another scare against the Bulls by blowing a 21 point lead before hanging on for a 1 point win. Remember The Rockets blowing a 19 point lead against the Spurs earlier this week? If you are a Rocket fan and take heart medicine, you may want to double up on it on game days. ;-)

115 to 103 means a Win for the Mav’s in their first game against the Grizzlies and they finally have 4 wins to offset the slow season start when the lost 4 games in a row. Erick Dampier finally has folks talking about his play instead of the huge contract he has with little or no production on the court. He contributes 22 points, 15 rebounds, two blocks to go with Dirks 26 points and 10 rebounds.

The Mav’s are going keep needing all those points if they don’t start holding teams UNDER 100 plus points a game.

Also, the Bulls finally learn not to “Mess with Texas” as the Spurs kick them to the curb by a score of 100 to 83 and the Bulls leave Texas with a beat down by all three Texas teams.

Mav’s get win number 5 as the Grizzlies are held to 84 points and we score 89. Dirk gets 24 points, 13 rebounds but more importantly, the Frizz are held to 36% shooting. The coach must be proud of the defense even if it is only against a team with a 1 and 8 record.

Also, if you are the Rockets, you like it when Yao gets 33 points, 16 rebounds and four assists while McGrady scores 24 against the Pistons at the Palace. Sadly, it won’t get us a win as the home team takes the “W” 104 to 92.

The Mav’s are at Charlotte tonight after a travel day on Sunday, more or less. Really it is just a break after two games in a row and a trip to play the Grizzlies.

The Spurs were in action though in SACRAMENTO to play the Kings and we win, 108 to 99 as Duncan goes BIG with 35 points and 14 boards. It was all good until a hockey game broke out. Three players get blooded and have to leave the game to get stitches. Brent Barry is the worst with about a dozen on his head but he just puts on a headband to cover it and comes back to play.

The Rockets head to New York to play the Knickerbockers tonight.

Mav’s win their 6th game in a row, after that terrible O and 4 start, 93-85, against the Charlotte Bobcats. Dirk has 24 points, 14 boards,4 assists. They hold another opponent under 100.

The Spurs beat Portland 107-98 as Duncan and Ginobili each score 25.

Yao Ming scores 26 and has 9 rebounds to lead the Rockets to a win at Madison Square Garden 97-90 over the Knicks.

All 3 Texas team win and life is good. ;-)
