Hero sighting

As reported by a Hollywood reporter:

The Hollywood restaurant goes all abuzz which usually means an “A” list celeb has shown up. Is it the latest blonde airhead? Is it the latest red haired airhead? etc…

Everyone turns to see who is causing the buzz and it includes the little guy getting out of the way of the photogs until he realizes they are trying to get pictures of HIM. Him is Heroes actor Masi Oka! “It’s just, you know...me.”

That’s cool!  That happens to me all the time.  Last time I even offered to take a picture of then with what ever they were photographing until I found out it was me.

Wow, how is your head injury? Do those hallucinations go away on their own? Your wife must have been standing behind you if there were photographers snapping. She is the one with movie star looks. ;-)

No Hero Needed according to Zapit!

The company that makes In-Sink-Erator garbage disposers is suing NBC, claiming that an episode of the new show “Heroes” makes the product look bad.

Appliance maker Emerson filed the lawsuit in a St. Louis federal court Monday, seeking to block rebroadcasts of the “Heroes” pilot. In the episode, a high school cheerleader (Hayden Panettiere) who has the ability to withstand injury sticks her hand into an In-Sink-Erator while it’s running, mangling her fingers (which return to normal within a few seconds).

Emerson’s suit claims the scene “casts the disposer in an unsavory light, irreparably tarnishing the product” by suggesting that serious injuries will result “in the event consumers were to accidentally insert their hand into one.”

The suit, however, is more about NBC’s use of the In-Sink-Erator name than the content of the scene, the company says. “It’s a trademark thing,” spokesman Dan Callahan tells the St. Louis Post Dispatch.

NBC hasn’t commented on the suit.

Emerson is asking for a ruling barring future broadcasts of the pilot, which is available on NBC’s website and has already aired on NBC Universal-owned cable networks USA and Sci Fi. It also seeks to block NBC from using any Emerson trademarks in the future.

BURBANK - October 5, 2006 NBC has given a full season order for 2006-07 to “HEROES” (Mondays, 9-10 p.m. ET) it was announced today by Kevin Reilly, President, NBC Entertainment.

Tim Kring reveals some of the powers the Heroes posses. You may be very surprised! I sure was not expecting a few of them.

If “Heroes” star, Masi Oka who plays Hiro Nakamura, is one of your new favorites on the show, take a look at his early education and resume.

“You might also remember Mr. Oka from a wealth of previous work, including Scrubs, Luis, Joey, and Gilmore Girls on TV, and Austin Powers in Goldmember and Along Came Polly in theaters. What you might not know is that he’s a Brown University graduate with degrees in mathematics and computer science with a theater arts minor, at one time he worked for Industrial Light & Magic in special effects, and has had a background in comedy as well as drama.”

Poor guy, all that education and ends up an actor. :-)

Some one asked this of Masi Oka. His answer is pretty funny when you consider it happened in a bar.

Q: Has playing Hiro changed the way people react to you in public?

A: So far it seems like the target demo [that finds Hiro appealing] is women 50 and over and 13 and under. I think I’m starting to narrow that.

The other day, ["Heroes" actor] Milo [Ventimiglia] and I were grabbing some drinks with his agent’s girlfriend for her birthday and at the bar these three cute girls come up to me and said, “Can we take our picture with you?” And then they said, “You’re my boyfriend’s favorite character!” So this is my life. Nothing has changed, except people want to take their picture with me now, so I feel like Goofy from Disneyland. But I think it’s funny.

Good example of an every day Hero by a guy who plays one on TV. Some of them are cool and some of the heros draw as badly as myself. ;-) One of them was at $40.

HEROES AUCTION

To support Greg Grunberg’s Pediatric Epilepsy Project, the entire cast of Heroes has drawn interpretations of their characters to help raise funds for the organization. The Pediatric Epilepsy Project was formed with a single, all important mission: to raise funds, provide financial support and increase community awareness to help sustain the Division of Pediatric Neurology at UCLA.

Note from Greg

I just want to take this opportunity to thank all of you out there who have taken an interest in these one-of-a-kind Heroes drawings, illustrated and autographed by each cast member, and a limited-edition Heroes promotional item, autographed by acclaimed artist Tim Sale. It is such an amazing experience to be a part of this show as an actor. And to now be able to raise funds for my charity makes it all the better. All of the proceeds from the sale of these sketches will benefit my charity the Pediatric Epilepsy Project (PEP) supporting UCLA’s Pediatric Neurology Department.

Three years ago, my oldest son, Jake, was diagnosed with epilepsy and has been doing great thanks to all the hard work and care of the doctors, nurses, scientists, and researchers at UCLA. They are truly life savers, and Jake, and children like him, are able to live relatively normal lives due to their incredible work.

So bid, bid, and keep on bidding… knowing you are not only getting a Heroes collector’s item connected to one of the coolest shows on TV, but also doing a wonderful thing in supporting PEP and all the great work they do to help treat and care for children with epilepsy.

And remember, “I know what you’re thinking...”

Good news all your Masi Oka fans!  I just found out that November 12 is Hiro day!  The founders of Hiro day encourge you to walk around like and idiot and believe everthing somebody tells you.  Also highly recomended: Having a goofy look on your face, squeezing your eyes shut everytime something bad happeneds, confide in everyone you meet that you can bend space and time, Cheat at cards.

I MAY NOT KNOW A THING ABOUT WHAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT.  BUT BY GOD I HAVE AN OPINION ABOUT IT!!! :banghead:

Hmm… I kind of do that everyday! ;-) Does that seem wrong to you?

Yes, it does.  A good way to solve that is to get a clue.  I will sell you a clue for 50 bucks right now.

I MAY NOT KNOW A THING ABOUT WHAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT.  BUT BY GOD I HAVE AN OPINION ABOUT IT!!! :banghead:

I’ll take two! What kind of currency do you take? Have you got a yen for some rupies or do you take confederate cash and yankee dollars? :-)

Hayden Panettiere, a multitasking 17-year-old who’s been acting since age 5 and plans to release a pop-rock album next year, discloses that she celebrated Heroes’ full-season pickup by buying herself a Porsche: ‘’I almost ran over Kanye West this morning!’’

Better luck next time Hayden!

“Heroes” Star: Former “Whiz Kid”

Masi OkaMasi Oka shot to fame playing Hiro Nakamura on the NBC hit “Heroes,” but the 31-year-old landed his first magazine cover when he was just 12.

Oka was on the cover of Time magazine in 1987 (he’s the one in blue on the left) with the banner, “Those Asian-American Whiz Kids.” He told Conan O’Brien that a parent of one of his childhood friends was the photographer, and “She was looking for smart Asian kids.” Oka wasn’t featured in the article, but he is something of a genius.

After hearing that “Eden” was killed on the show, because her agent was trying to get more money for her in real life, comes a new rumor about the show.

Now it is being reported that two actors, who play a romantically involved couple on the show, can’t stand each other in real life and hate to even do scenes with each other. Yikes, hope they have other jobs lined up when they get killed off the show.

Maybe it is a good thing no names are being dropped, right now.
