I too like the All Star books that are slowly coming out, but I like the reason for them retelling the stories in the All Star books. Some mucktey muck over at DC realized all the fans of DC who enjoyed Miller’s stuff when they were kids are now grown up. So DC, following Marvel’s lead with Ultimate Line, realizes that their fan base is a little older than it used to be. DC is still offering the great art and stories, but changing the way the present the material to the new fan base of today, all the while maturing the DC universe for the loyal fans of yesterday.
DC and Marvel also realized that with the technology today children are more exposed to things in the world and are thus more desensitized then when I or my older brother was grown up. They are not as shocked by events in comics that would traumatize kids back in the day (when ever that was) so they are not scared with starting over with titles that are edger but allows the new fan base to get on board with what is happening within the rest of the continuum.
I like the All Star for what it is attempting to do, but I do not like the comics since it is taking for ever for the story line to progress as well as actually receive the comic in hand. This may end up hurting the line if DC does not get it in gear and get the monthly title out in a monthly fashion if you will.
