TimeSpiral?  More like AwesomeSpiral!

On a new (and happy) note the first few cards from Time Spiral are spoiled on mtgsalvation.  They look good enough that I’m honestly more excited about this set than I have been for any set since, Mirrodin!  Maybe even more than Mirrodin.  In any case.  I thought we could use a thread for everyone’s thoughts on particular Time Spiral cards and/or mechanics.

Split Second is the coolest ability in a long time.  “Respond to this, bozo!”
The Uber-fetchland is crazy!  And common?!?!?
Granted, the Morph creature we’ve seen so far is awful, but Morph is incredibly fun in both constructed and limited, and I think that Scott Fischer’s new angel art may be for Exalted Angel, so I can’t wait to see if one of my three favorite creatures of all time is back!
Buyback.  Enough said.
I love Kher Keep, and can’t think of any reason not to run it in every mono-red deck I own.
The new lotus is interesting, and possibly more useful than Signets in a deck that tries to power out an early fatty.  All you need is one of these for a turn 4 Simic Sky Swallower, Debtor’s Knell, or Yosei with mana to spare.  Turn 5 Akroma, anyone (or turn 4 with one signet)?

Anyway, I’m thinking that the next set will be exceptionally strong, and can’t wait to see what else is revealed in the next few weeks.

Yeah Krosan Grip is stupid powerful. Not only is it uncoutnerable*, it can get rid of P Deed, Top, Scepter, Jitte, etc and they can’t do anything about it. Nothing. Probably the best disenchant/naturalize variant ever.

* Counterbalance and Dovescape get it w/ triggered abilities, but basically uncounterable.

That fetch land is awesome. I thought it was better than them, then I saw it put the land into play tapped, but pfft, np, thin you deck AND fix cards w/o taking up a precious real card slot, amazing. 4 of in every 2+ color non stupid fast deck.

I like the flashback in a different color. that’s pretty cool. I hope the enemy colors get some love, as the enemy guilds > allied ones IMHO. (er, I like them better in general. though I’m chapioning Dimir again, or trying too).

I do have to say though I was still more excited for Ravnica. I loved the flavor of the block mainly, hybrid & split cards are fun, having duals to have the manabases to do nutty stuff is great. (though costly :/)

I hope it’s true that every snowflake is unique, because I never want to see one like this again.

Split Second seems to be the replacement for Interrupt.  Actually looks better than the old Interrupts to me.

Un-interruptible interrupts.

agreed.  That’s why I said better.  I like the fact of having a ‘faster-than-instant’ spell.

would it not resolve instantly, barring triggered effects such as erayo/dovescape?

too good in my opinion. and id rather see it in white. disenchant > naturalize

apparently suspend is a big focus in time spiral… i think suspend sucks, unless you wrath/jokulhaups/apocolypse/armageddon with this stuff still having time counters. also, is the new lotus a combo piece for salvager?

That makes my head hurt.  Is NULL less than one?

Suspend will be great for control decks I believe. Ooo lookie power out my finisher on turn 3 or have counter mana available or use it to respond to something or protect it, etc.

No it’s not a combo for Salvager, because you can’t ever play it, you always have to suspend it, which means it will always come 3 turns later, baring a way to remove it’s counters faster, but that’s kinda hard if not impossible since it’s RFG’d (you tried, Chisei).

NULL is NULL, but converted to 0 in this case. Nice to see some people know a little comp sci here :)
