Dissension Thoughts

Psyber - 24 April 2006 11:42 PM
Hmm, didnt know voidslime could be used like that.  So many questions......

Probably a lot of them can be answered just by a little thought, and this helpful definition from the comp rules.

404.1. A triggered ability begins with the word ?when,? ?whenever,? or ?at.? The phrase containing one of these words is the trigger condition, which defines the trigger event.

And of course, activated abilities are the ones that use the “:”

In the case of someone sacrificing a Yosei to a Greater Good - the Voidslime player would have two choices.  He could counter the activated ability (sac a creature:draw cards for power/discard 3) of Greater Good, which would prevent his opponent from drawing cards, or he could counter the triggered ability of Yosei (whenever Yosei is put into a graveyard from play, etc.) so that he doesn’t have to tap down all his permanents or lose his next untap step.  Hope that helps a little!  Lots of fun things can be “slimed”!  :)

(If I play this for Regionals, I will try and create some sort of Slimer token, and wear my Ghostbusters shirt!!)

voidslime is really good… the only thing is, like mentioned before, you almost always want to counter the spell insted of the triggered ability. I’d rather counter Yosei than the triggered ability of him hitting the yard. I’d rather counter the trigger from ghostway than the spell itself unless it means my jitte getting counters and their team dying to combat damage anyways. In any case, I’d nearly always counter a creature and probably always counter a spell. Since there’s only 4 in the deck, the counter isnt gonna be any sort of game-changing.

besides, i’ll take demonfire all day long.

Matt

Rich, I’ll tell you a little story about when Avatar of Discord is good. your opponent plays it third turn.
you have no answer, on their fourth turn they put moldervine cloak on it and swing for 8.
you, again, have no answer. on their fifth turn they swing for another 8.
on your fifth turn you draw elvish skysweeper, drop a land, and realize you’re one mana short of being able to kill the stupid avatar.

sixth turn win in sealed is pretty impressive.

although I did win the next two games, that one was rough.

Voidslime is sweet, but I wish I knew how to quit Cytoshape.
