Rock Solid Customs Gallery: MR HYDE pg 1

First, big thanks to Curvezilla and everyone else here at Komikazee for their support! We appreciate it!

So, what is Rock Solid Customs?

Rombado and JoMiHa have teamed up to collaborate on customs. We’ve named ourselves Rock Solid Customs (http://www.rocksolidcustoms.net). We are super excited about this venture. Our first figure was the Lion of Olympus himself...Hercules.

First, JoMiHa started with a Triple H figure....

Cut his jaw off, trimmed it, reattached it and sculpted new teeth and a beard, created the head gear and sculpted some hair over it. He also trimmed the nose down and resculpted over the bridge…

He shortened the legs at the calves…

Made the belt out of craft foam, then painted it as well as the head, trunks and base skin tones…

Rombado then took over.
Rombado sculpted the toes/sandals first…

Then the upper boot parts, complete with buckles and straps…

Sculpted the harness base…

And added the studs to the harness and sculpted a mace…

Then finished the painting on him…

Thanks for looking! Please let us know what you think!!!

Heh. How long did it take to balance the figure on two levels like that?? ;)

Nice work guys as usual.

Customer Service is best served with a lightsaber.:lightsaber:

Thanks, DM! I was waiting for Rom to poke his nose in here since he posed Herc, but nooo, he’s too good to address his throng of fans. Once again, I have to do all the work...sigh…
Just kidding, Mike! Hee…

Hey y’all, Rock Solid back with ya. This time around we went with a couple of our favorite Legion of Doom characters done JLU style. JoMiHa chose to create Lex Luthor, the original gangsta. And Rombado went with the thorn in Auquaman’s side, Black Manta.

Black Manta was created using a John Stewart Green Lantern. The trick was I would only do this figure if I could make the helmet removable. So you guessed it, I got it done, otherwise I wouldn’t be postin’ LOL seriously this is my toughest JLU custom to date.

For the base of his helmet, I went with my trusty clear vinyl. This would create the smooth surface needed for the helmet sliding off and on easily and without damaging the figure’s paint. Next the base of the neck was sculpted with AS. Then I filled in the lines of GL’s uniform for the smooth appearance of Manta wetsuit.

Next, I started to build the helmet and backpack, also with AS.

I finished rounding out the helmet and backpack. Then I sculpted the chest and eyes.

The rest is good ol’ elbow grease.

And then it was my (JoMiHa) turn.

I took an existing JLU Lex Luthor figure and turned him into the Legion of Doom Lex that we all know and love!

I took off his harness and gun, sculpted his belt, turtle neck, gloves and a piece of kryptonite for his left hand. I also made his collar out of craft foam.

I then painted him in his classic pink and aqua green colors, added a bandolier using deer skin lace and parts of Omega Red’s harness for the canisters. I used a few pieces of Ninja Wolverine’s sword, heated up and reshaped to represent the boot jets. Voila! Legion of Doom Lex!

Here’s a shot of Black Manta and Lex Luthor together:

Thanks for looking!

That Hercules is Rock Solid dude! That’s the second best Hercules custom i’ve ever seen. Back in 2004 ActorJez sold one on Ebay for $660.00 which is still the record to this day. However, i’m sure the guy you sold your Herc to is very happy. Great job man!

Thanks, Black Bolt! We appreciate the compliments- yeah, Mike has told me that Jez’s Conan and Hercules has inspired him from the beginning. We didn’t expect to break records, but like you said, our buyer was very happy with him, and that’s what matters most!

Mr. Hyde.

JoMiHa took a HC Joe Fixit Hulk and started off with the legs. He lengthened them approx 1/2 inch at the mid- thigh.  He then sculpted the eyebrows and a base layer of hair and finally, created the bottom sleeves and wrist cuffs using craft foam and apoxie sculpt.

Rombado then sculpted the undershirt, overcoat and shaw for Hyde, using clear vinyl to achieve breathing space near the shoulders and hip joints and to give it a thin, fabric like feel, wrinkles and all.

He went the extra mile with the tiny buttons on the undershirt as well as the exterior buttons on the overcoat.

JoMiHa then finished Hyde. First, he made the wild hair using plastic welder (thanks to zombie 13 for the intro to p.w.!). Then he did the headsculpt- Took a War Hulk head, cut the jaw in half and repositioned it to get rid of the severe underbite.

JoMiHa then shaved down the jawline and chin and resculpted both.

He also resculpted the bottom sleeves and created the shaw tie using rubber lace. He then painted Hyde and voila! Here he is!

We hope you like it!

No problem Rock. I just call’em like i see’em. Herc rocks!

The Mighty Thor vs Hercules! Remember those battles?

Heck yeah I remember those battles! Mike and I were talking the other day- one of our favorite Herc fights was when he was trying to “cheer up” Namor, so he starts picking on him and they go toe-to-toe for nearly an entire issue (Avengers- Stern/Buscema run).

Thanks again, Black Bolt. I’m kind of stepping in for Mike as well, since he’s been out of commission for the past couple of days. Dental stuff...the worst! Hopefully he’ll feel up to posting again soon.

Oh man, I’m sorry to hear about Mike. I need to send him a personal email to say hello. Hercules vs Namor! Dude, what issue was that? I want to see that battle myself JoMiHa. That’s one battle i missed. My favorite battles are Hulk vs Thing, Thor vs Hulk, Superman vs Hulk, Hulk vs Juggernaut, etc. I like it when heroes fight each other for some reason as opposed to heroes trying to save the world. Give me Inhumans vs Fantastic Four, Ultimates vs Justice League. Damn, imaging that battle. Can i brake that down for a second: Superman vs Sentry. Nuff said. I don’t care about the others. Well i do, but that’s the “mother of all battles”. The only other battle that comes close would be when Superman fought Shazam on the Cartoon Network. They damn near destroyed the city....lol. Imagine Supes vs the Sentry. WOW!

Issue #262! I love the Stern/Buscema run...my favorite ever. I know what you mean, I love seeing the heroes battle each other too!

Here’s the issue:

Thanks JoMiHa! I need to add that issue to my “famous battle” comics. Don’t tell me who won. If i had to guess, i’d say Namor wooped dat azz. I’m saying that because i see them both in the water. Namor is one tough customer when it comes to his own turf. I’m right, huh? DON’T ANSWER THAT! LOL

Hey Ricky, thanks so much for your continued support.

I don’t want to give it away, but the Herc/Namor battle is one of the best classic fight scenes in the Avengers.

Thor and Herc have had some great ones too. I love the one when it was the writer’s month off, Herc and Thor, completely tore through Manhattan, good times
