Warner Bros. Pictures president Alan Horn said they’d move ahead with a sequel if the film hit the $200 million mark.

According to Box Office Mojo Superman Returns has officially passed the $200 million mark domestically. The film earned $173,000 this weekend to bring it’s total to $200,006,305 domestically, and $390,000,000 worldwide.

Warner Bros. Pictures president and COO Alan Horn said in August that he expected the film to eventually gross $400,000,000 worldwide, which is more than 2005’s Batman Begins.

Both Horn and Singer have said a 2009 release for the sequel is likely.
