Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess FIRST LOOK

A new type of Zelda for a new type of system.

With my new found love for Nintendo’s Wii, comes a renewed love for the Zelda series. As I watch the E3 ’06 videos and see all the beautiful screenshots I can’t help but feel like a little kid just waiting for the November 19th launch date.

Most of the information for The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess came during E3. A lot of the hands-on comments consisted of loving the look of the game but having only so-so controls.

Nintendo just had a big Wii press event on September 14 in New York. Some of the controls has been revamped and all were invited to take a test drive. No longer did you have to make long swipes with the Wii-mote to swing Link’s sword, you only have to flick your wrist in whatever direction. A lot of the concern that was brought on by fans was the fact that everybody that has ever played the Wii on video was standing up. A lot of people don’t have room to do so without hitting their TV with the controller. The controls on most games don’t need extravagant movements of controller to get the job done.

The fishing aspect of Twilight Princess looks like a good enough game on its own. You use the Wii-mote like you would a fishing rod. Even yanking back when the fish grabs the bait so you can hook the fish. The nunchuk attachment is then used as your reel. You make the motion of reeling in the fish while using your rod to pull the fish. It actually looks quite intuitive and I can’t wait to try it myself. Especially because there’s nothing like it out there now. Sure, I can go outside and do it for real, but come on!

As of now it seems like nobody cares an awful lot about the storyline. But you can be sure that I will let all of you know as soon as possible.
